Bingo
LPAC has been running three bingo games a week since March of 2005, and bingo is currently the highest-grossing fundraising activity that LPAC sponsors. Our games are hosted at:
Slammers Bingo
1878 S Wadsworth Blvd
Lakewood, CO 80232
The bingo program has generated money to hire instructors and clinicians to work with students, to purchase the truck the marching band uses to move its equipment, to purchase several new instruments, and to subsidize the cost of participation in the various music programs at Lakewood High School. Questions concerning the bingo program should be directed to Shawn DeJong at sdejong@lpac.info.
Working at Bingo
The success of the bingo program is due to the many parents and students who volunteer to staff each game. All instrumental music students at LHS and their parents are asked to make their own contribution to the bingo program by volunteering to work at least three games during each school year. Students and parents who wish to work at a bingo game should be aware of the following rules:
- All volunteers must be members of LPAC or students in the LHS instrumental music department, and they must be at least 14 years of age.
- Volunteers must be dressed appropriately, in accordance with the LHS student dress code. Volunteers are also encouraged to wear a t-shirt or polo with an LHS logo.
- Volunteers are expected to arrive by the posted start time for their scheduled session, which is typically 45 to 75 minutes before the game begins.
- Volunteers should sign in when they arrive.
Positions
Volunteers can work as card sellers, cashiers, callers, bookkeepers, and games managers. Callers, bookkeepers, and games managers must be adults, and they need to be specially trained. Consequently, LPAC is always looking for volunteers willing to fill these positions. Parents interested in becoming more involved with LPAC should consider training for one or more of these positions. Other positions can be filled by students or parents, and training is provided on the job.
Signing Up
To sign up to work at bingo, contact Janet Streitenberger at lpacbingo@gmail.com. Please note that the successful operation of our bingo program depends on the commitment of students and parents. Volunteers are expected to arrive at their scheduled session or to find a replacement to work in their place. Volunteers who do not come to their scheduled sessions will be removed from the volunteer list and will not be asked to work again.
