Lakewood High School Symphonic Band |
|
The Lakewood High School Music Department is proud to present the award winning
LHS Symphonic Band, one of the premier high school bands in
Colorado. Its members are required to participate in the Bengal Regiment. The
Symphonic Band travels for competition at the local and national levels, and has
traveled internationally to perform as far away as London, England. Costs LHS will charge a class fee of $100 at registration. There is no LPAC assessment due beyond the mandatory Bengal Regiment one. Rehearsals are held during the scheduled class time period. Additional rehearsals will be scheduled at the discretion of the Director, especially before public concerts. Section leaders will schedule their own sectional rehearsals. Attire for the Symphonic Band during concert (non-marching) season is formal concert dress: tuxedoes for the men and black concert gowns for the women. Tuxedoes will be offered for sale in the $100-$120 range by Mr. Harris before the beginning of winter concert season. Gowns will be offered for sale for about $90 at the same time and are intended to be uniform throughout the ensemble. However, if a woman owns a slightly different style gown from a previous year it may be acceptable to continue using it. Payment for concert attire is to LHS and is not included in class enrollment fees. Trips are scheduled at the discretion of the Director. Travel expenses for local performances and competitions are included in the class fee. The costs of other trips, which may include lodging or airfare, are the responsibility of the participants. Individual costs may be reduced by earning Student Account Points through fundraisers. Handbook Each Symphonic Band student will receive a Symphonic Band Handbook from Mr. Harris establishing his expectations for appropriate preparation, attendance, and decorum during rehearsals and performances.
