Welcome to the 2008 LHS Winter Guard (PDF) During the Winter and into Spring semester, the Bengal Regiment Color Guard becomes the Winter Guard. The Winter Guard is widely known for its excellence, performing its award-winning dance routines in competitions locally and state-wide. In April the group travels to Dayton, Ohio to compete in the WGI Color Guard World Championships. Ensemble members are chosen by audition, usually in November. Costs for participation in Winter Guard are typically around $400. These are an extra-curricular assessment payable to LPAC and are based on the budget needed for the ensemble. The amount will be determined before the start of the ensemble’s season, and may be offset by SAPs accrued through fundraising. The assessment includes costumes and shoes, and the use of flags, poles, sabers and rifles as well as any other props. There are no LHS class fees, as this is not a class. Rehearsals are held after school 2-3 days per week, and on Saturdays all day. Dates and times are determined by the instructor. Costumes and shoes are chosen by the instructors, and are included in the extra-curricular assessment. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the participants and are not covered by the LPAC assessment. Travel to Dayton, Ohio, for the WGI World Championships is assessed separately. A performance schedule will develop once the school year begins and will be published as soon as possible. Rev. 8/02/07 WGI Regionals Competition at LHS, Saturday, March 22! Winter Guard 2008 The Winter Guard season has started. The cost for participation this year is $470/student. LPAC offers a payment plan for the fee: December 15 $125 January 15 $125 February 15 $125 March 15 $95 The Winter Guard 2008 fee schedule and payment coupon form is available under Forms. There is no trip to Dayton, Ohio, this year for the Nationals Competition due to the California trip. If anyone would like a copy of this year's budget for the Winter Guard season, please ask any board member and we'd be happy to get you a copy. LPAC is sponsoring two Winter Guard shows at LHS during the 2008 season. The profits from these shows go directly towards the Winter Guard and Winter Percussion season costs.
